My client is a small full-service residential and commercial firm based in Manhattan. They are currently seeking a talented and experienced Interior Designer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience specializing in high-end residential projects.
This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who has experience working on architectural projects, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is flexible enough to manage various project types under the guidance of the Senior Designer and Principal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the design team to develop creative concepts, including drawings, boards, and renderings for client presentations.
- Manage projects across a range of scopes, scales, and budgets.
- Draft technical drawings in AutoCAD, including custom furniture detailing, lighting design, space planning, and providing interior architectural guidance in coordination with project architects.
- Conduct field surveys to assess existing site conditions and inventory of furnishings.
- Maintain comprehensive project binders with all relevant contacts, schedules, specifications, and drawings.
- Research and source furniture, lighting, fabrics, wallpaper, and interior finishes; experience with materials like tile, stone, wood, and kitchen and bath design is highly advantageous.
- Collaborate with vendors to obtain cost estimates and assist in project budgeting.
- Facilitate client meetings, including preparing and distributing meeting minutes and task lists.
- Assist in managing and mentoring the intern program.
- Installation and styling of interior projects.
- Utilize Design Manager to propose items to clients and manage orders.
- Contribute to the creation of content from ongoing projects for social media platforms.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited interior design or architecture program.
- At least 5 years of experience working in an interior design firm, specifically on high-end residential projects.
- Proficiency in design principles and aesthetics.
- Extensive knowledge of residential furnishings and finishes across all price points.
- Strong familiarity with NYC design resources.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and experience with Design Manager software.
- Strong work ethic with a proactive, adaptable attitude.
- Technologically savvy with a strong understanding of social media, particularly Instagram.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
